In conversation with Nektarios Liolios

A man who fought to have a seat at the table, but when he got there, saw the mound of defeated bodies, crushed dreams and broken spirits it was built on.

Nektarios Liolios’ story started as a Greek boy who dreamt of being a breakdancer, he fell into a corporate career in Germany, and went on to be paramount in the building of the Fintech scene in London.

As the face of fintech acceleration he was acclaimed and celebrated, invited to talk on stages around the world, and popped champagne with every founder who celebrated a win.

But behind that, he saw first hand the true toll of the damage the culture was taking on the startup founders. He saw their silent tears in bathrooms, the breakdowns, their turning to self-medication, the loneliness they tried to hide and insidious anxiety that would consume them when their investors walked in.

Securing investment was a poisoned chalice.

Nektarios decided he couldn’t be part of the problem any more. He had a voice and the network to influence change and he was going to use it to rebuild the system.
